New Grant for Environmental Health Science Kits

Science Take-Out has been awarded a two-year small business technology transfer (STTR) grant from the NIH National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.  The $997,000 grant will support an ongoing partnership between Science Take-Out and University of Rochester’s Environmental Health Sciences Center.  A previous STTR grant funded development of eight Science Take-Out kits that focus on various topics in environmental health science – such as lead poisoning and environmental risk factors of breast cancer.  The new project will study the impact that the environmental health kits have on student learning, support teacher professional development workshops and work with environmental health outreach programs to adapt the kits for use with diverse community groups throughout the US.
