• How many kits should I order for my class?
Science Take-Out kits are packed individually. You should order 1 kit per student if your students are working individually. You should order 1 kit per group if you students are working in small groups (2-4 students).

• I’m not a science teacher (I’m a parent/tutor/etc). Will I understand how to use your kits?
You do not need to be a “science teacher” to use Science Take-Out kits. Our teacher guides are written at a level that a non-science teacher (for example, a parent) can understand.

• I don’t have access to a lab room. Can I use your kits?
No lab, no problem! Our science kits contain all the required supplies and can be used in any setting. Some of our kits do require water, either from a water tap or water provided in a container. We also strongly recommend that students wear safety goggles and cover tabletops with paper towels for some of the activities.

• What grade levels are your kits for?
Our science kits are created for high school-level learners, but educators will find our kits appropriate for a wide variety of grade levels, from middle school through junior college.

• My students are poor readers. Will they be able to use your kits?
Our kit instructions are written for average to below average high school-level readers. We have tried our best to simplify much of the technical jargon while including basic science vocabulary.

• Do your kits use living organisms?
We do not use any living organisms other than bakers yeast and seeds.

• Are your products guaranteed?
All Science Take-Out products are guaranteed for 60 days. If for any reason you are not satisfied with any item, you may return it within 60 days for a replacement, a refund, or credit. It's that simple. Should you encounter any problems with your order, please contact us so that we can correct this for you immediately.

• Are Science Take-Out kits safe for using at home?
Science Take-Out kits are specifically designed to provide a safe and positive science learning experience in non-school settings. We have been careful in our selection of chemicals – many of which are common household chemicals such as food coloring, vinegar, ammonia and baking soda. We sometimes use simulated “chemicals” as safer substitutions for the real thing (for example, using yellow colored water to simulate urine). We also use manipulative models (in some of our kits) and illustrations as safe methods to convey scientific information.

Student instructions contain specific safety information and instructions for clean up. Teacher guides contain MSDS sheets which describe the chemicals used in each kit.

Despite our efforts to make our science kits “safe”, our products may contain potentially harmful items and/or chemicals that could cause injury if misused. Therefore, our products should be used only as directed, and they should be safely stored out of the reach of children and pets. Minors (under 18) should use our kits only with adult supervision.

The purchaser of any Science Take-Out product must assume full responsibility for its proper use and for any and all liability associated with its purchase. No responsibility or liability of any kind related to the purchase of our products can or will be accepted by Science Take-Out, LLC.

Here is the fine print, “legalese” version of our liability disclaimer:
We will gladly replace the item, or issue a credit or refund if you are not completely satisfied with the product during this 60-day period.  This is Science Take-Out’s only warranty and Science Take-Out disclaims all other warranties or guaranties with respect to any products purchased from Science Take-Out, including, without limitation, statutory, written, oral, expressed or implied, any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall Science Take-Out be liable or responsible for any exemplary, punitive, special, indirect, incidental or consequential damages of any kind; or for any products which are abused, altered, or misused by the customer or any other persons or entities or which become defective or non-conforming through the actions or inactions of the customer or any other persons or entities. Science Take-Out’s sole liability and customer's sole remedy for any claim relating to any products purchased from Science Take-Out shall be limited to the price paid for such product(s).

• Where can I find the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for the chemicals used in your kits?
The teacher guides contain MSDS for chemicals used our kits. This information can also be accessed by going to the online product page and downloading the teacher guide PDF.

• I can’t find exactly what I am looking for. Do you make custom kits?
Science Take-Out can develop or customize science kits to meet your school or organization’s specific needs. Contact us for further information and pricing.

• Do you have a minimum order?
You can order as many kits as you need. You can order 1 kit, if that’s all you need. You can also mix and match any number of kits.

• What forms of payment do you accept?
Customers paying with a credit card should order our kits online. To provide secure online purchasing, we use PayPal to handle our checkout process. PayPal accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. (You do not need to have a PayPal account.) We also accept checks and money order for orders placed by phone, fax or mail.

Please note: Customers paying by check will experience up to a 5 business day delay in receiving your order due to processing/verification times.

• Do you charge sales tax?
We charge 7% sales tax to New York residents. We offer sales tax exemption for qualified customers. If you are tax-exempt, please fax your tax exemption certificate to us at (585)381-9495.

• Do you accept purchase orders (POs)?
Yes.  We accept purchase orders (POs) from schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions. Our terms are Net 30 Days, FOB Pittsford, NY. In our effort to keep costs down and pass on these savings to our customers, we very much appreciate payment within 30 days of invoice date.

Orders to individuals must be prepaid with a check or money order or charged to a credit card.

• How much is shipping?
We automatically compute and display shipping charges whenever you are ready to check out with your order. Shipping costs depend on the total number of individual kits you purchase. We charge the same amount of money for shipping a box of between 1 and 10 kits. We ship via UPS or US Postal Service, using your choice of Parcel Post (ground) or Priority Mail.

Shipping costs for kit refills and unassembled kits will vary by the weight of the item and will be calculated during checkout.

Please call us if your order is going to Alaska or Hawaii or internationally. Our shipping prices are subject to change without notice.

• Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we can ship internationally. Please call us for international shipping costs.

• When will I receive my order?
We try to process all orders within 3-5 business days. Occasionally, items may be back ordered and this may cause a delay in processing your order. We will notify you via email if your order will take more than 5 business days to complete.

Our standard service is via UPS (ground) or US Postal Service (Parcel Post), with a delivery time of 2-7 business days, depending on your location. We can also ship your order via Priority Mail (1-3 day delivery time).

• How do I return an item?
NOTE: You must obtain a Return Authorization (RA) number before you send your return back to us. Absolutely no returns will be accepted without the RA number. Call us or email us at contact@sciencetakeout.com to obtain the RA number and a return form.

If you are dissatisfied with an item we want to quickly correct the problem. We will gladly replace or exchange the item, or refund the amount you paid. You may return items that are unsatisfactory within 60 days of the delivery date, providing they are unused and in their original packaging.

Note that your return postage, original shipping charges and re-stocking fee (if applicable) will not be refunded.

• Do you sell or trade my personal information?
No. All information provided to us is securely stored and completely confidential. We respect our customers' privacy and we do not sell or trade your information.

• Will I receive junk email if I give you my email address?
No, but we will occasionally send you emails with information about new Science Take-Out products or ask you to participate in an optional online customer satisfaction survey. If you do not want to receive any future emails please let us know.

• Is this a secure site?
Yes. Any information entered is encrypted and submitted through a secure connection. Since we use PayPal to handle our checkout process, we don't have to worry about security. The entire transaction is in their hands. And rest assured, PayPal is as secure as possible.
