Who we are:
Science Take-Out develops, manufactures and sells innovative and easy-to-use hands-on science activity kits designed for use by an individual student or small group of students. Our science kits are pre-packaged for individual student use and are ready-to-go, with no teacher prep required. Science Take-Out activities do not require any special laboratory equipment, and can be used in any educational setting.
Science Take-Out kits are created by experienced science educators who understand the diverse needs of teachers and their students. Science Take-Out’s founder and President, Dr. Dina Markowitz, is Director of the Life Sciences Learning Center, a hands-on science education outreach center at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Science Take-Out kits are created and field-tested by a team of science educators who have extensive expertise in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Our products:
The Science Take-Out professional staff literally spend hundreds of hours developing and then field testing each science kit before we determine if the kit will be made available for sale. This ensures that only high quality products are sold by our company. Although many other companies sell hands-on science kits, Science Take-Out kits combine many features that make them uniquely suited for students and teachers in many educational settings.
Ready-to-Go
Each Science Take-Out kit contains all the materials and instructions needed to complete the laboratory activity. Safety goggles, water, scissors, and paper towels for clean-up are the only materials not provided in the kits.
Individual
Students can work individually (or in small groups). Science Take-Out kits are ideal for home instruction
enrichment programs, remedial programs or make-up labs. Class data and group work are not required to complete the activities.
Versatile
Science Take-Out kits are ideal for situations where access to lab facilities or equipment is limited. They can be used in classrooms or non-school settings such as homes, tutoring centers, or hospitals.
Active
Science Take-Out activities involve students in active, hands-on and minds-on inquiry learning. Students develop inquiry process skills such as developing hypotheses, collecting data, creating graphs and tables, analyzing data and drawing conclusions.
Convenient for Students
All needed materials provided in a kit so that students can work more efficiently. No need to share materials or wait in line at a materials table to pick up needed supplies
Convenient for Teachers
No teacher preparation is required. There is no need to order lab supplies and assemble your own lab kits. We’ve done the purchasing and assembly for you.
Student-Friendly
Student instructions are easy to follow and are written for students with average to below average reading abilities. Engaging illustrations and manipulative models (for some kits) help students to visualize biological concepts and laboratory methods.
Teacher-Friendly
Teacher guides contain answer keys and information about how the activities correlate with science education standards.
Kits may be used by educators with minimal science background or teaching experience.
Curriculum Friendly
Science Take-Out kits are designed to correlate with topics in the high school biology curriculum, including cell biology, genetics, human biology, molecular biology, evolution, and ecology.
Teacher tested
Science Take-Out kits are field tested by master teachers in a variety of educational settings.
Cost Effective
Science Take-Out kits are sold individually, so you can buy just what you need. You can purchase a single kit or mix and match any combination of our kits.
